How To Live Forever

Nehemiah 9:17 "You are a God of forgiveness, always ready to pardon, gracious and merciful, full of love."

God is more eager to forgive than humans are to ask for forgiveness. That’s the kind of God that He is.

God is not an evil ogre – keeping score of our failures. He is gracious and merciful – full of love.  Hebrews 7:25,  "Christ is always interceding on our behalf." Romans 3:23-24, "All of us have sinned yet God declares us not guilty of offending Him if we trust in Jesus Christ who freely takes away our sin."

Ephesians 2,  "For it is by God’s grace that you have been saved, through faith, it is not your own doing but it’s God’s gift. There’s nothing to boast of, since it’s not the result of your own effort. It’s just God’s grace."

Colossians 2 says this "He has forgiven all your sins. He has utterly wiped out the evidence of the broken commandments which always hung over our heads; and He has completely annulled it by nailing it to the cross." When Jesus died - nailed to that cross -- the last thing He said was, "It is finished."  He didn’t say, "I am finished," -- because He wasn’t.  What did He mean, "It is finished"?  He meant -- "I’ve paid for all your sins."

Romans 3:25,  "For God sent Jesus to take the punishment for our sins and to satisfy God’s anger against us. We are made right with God when we believe that Jesus shed His blood, sacrificing His life for us."  Do you fully realize what it cost God to forgive us?  It cost His own Son.

Prayer:

Dear God,

Thank You for bringing me here today to receive Your gift of forgiveness. Please forgive me for all the things I’ve done that is wrong. I believe that Jesus died to pay for all of them. Thank You, Jesus Christ, for sacrificing Your life for me.Today, as best as I understand -- I commit my life to You, Jesus. I want to get to know You. -- I want to follow You. Teach me -- In Your name I pray. Amen.
